Chef Billy is by far one of the best we have ever met and we would not even think of using anyone else for our events. We are an International Yacht Brokerage that needs the "best of the best" to entertain our elite clientele. We have been using Chef Billy for at least 7 years now, if not longer. As the one that arranges these events, Billy has been my saving grace. I call him up, give him the date, give him the head count and tell him about 2 sentences that describe my event. That is it...that is all I need to do. I spend 5 minutes making that initial phone call and then forget about it. I know Billy has got it covered and he will never let me down.

The food is always fabulous, always different, and he always creates a top notch event. From heavy appetizers, pasta bars, Mexican fiestas, to intimate fine dining... Bily comes thru 150%. Ask him for the purple sweet potatoes...they will melt in your mouth. After two years I still have dreams of those purple potatoes. The freshest fish I have ever had accompanied those potatoes along with what I believe was a Citrus Coconut glaze. Oh man... I need to plan another event, I am getting hungry.

I would never trust another person to handle my events or my clients.

Chef Billy “Butter” Joyce of Surf side Cuisine has been creating magnificent events for our family over the past seven years.  From private events – Fourth of July parties for 34 guests to our wedding for 150 guests at our home, to political events for Senator John Kerry and Teresa Heinz Kerry and NY Governor Elliott Spitzer, just to name a few…  At all events, both large and small, Chef Joyce has excelled beyond our wildest expectations.  Excellent cuisine, personal service, and reasonably priced catering is his specialty.  Katsura (our estate in Point Loma) is now known as the Sushi Bar “par excellence” of Southern California thanks to Chef Joyce.  All guests both personal and political can’t wait to come to our home as long as they know that Chef Joyce will be in charge.

Surf side Cuisine has catered every one of my events. As a caterer myself, when it came to choosing someone to cater my mother’s 90th Birthday Party Surf Side Cuisine was an easy and wise choice. The food was sumptuous and scrumptious. My husband and I were hosting an evening for business colleagues, many of whom had never been to San Diego. It was our intent to expose them to authentic southern California cuisine but were hesitant we could accomplish this in a restaurant setting. After being guests at a party catered by Surf Side Cuisine, we contacted Billy Joyce about the possibility of coming to our home to plan, prepare and serve a sit down dinner for the group. This would allow our guests to enjoy a great Mexican meal in an intimate environment where JP and I could focus on our guests and the evening. Billy suggested a fabulous menu, and the resulting four course dinner was a deliciously indulgent meal.
